Eco-Construction
Eco-Construction
Eco-construction uses healthy and natural building and insulating materials (wood, brick, clay, soil, reeds, straw, stones etc.). In Permaculture this type of construction is meant to be of human dimensions; constructions have typically one-floor, at the most two. Clay, wood and straw are best since they last for several generations while able to be absorbed back into the natural environment once the settlement is no longer in use.
In this type of construction it’s important to give each buildings its own individual touch, in tune with the personality of the user. The building should also be organically connected with the surrounding garden and nature. It should not be a danger to the health of its inhabitants (ie. no fiber-cement roofing) nor to the health of the surrounding plant and animal life. These alternative and cheap building methods are old, trusted and true, simply forgotten in the light of modern urban and rural construction. They eliminate the use of toxic materials such as: eternit (fiber-cement), toxic insulation, chemical wood finishes and cement. We will gladly help in the design and implementation of such projects.
